Young Achiever of the Year 2016

Congratulations to Nat Golder 2016 Young Achiever of the Year and Georgie Horjus, who received a Special Commendation for Achievement in Sport at today’s Settlement Day ceremony.

At the 180th Settlement Day celebrations held 27 July 2016 The Hon Jay Weatherill MP, Premier of South Australia, presented Nat Golder with the 2016 Young Achiever of the Year award. This year Georgie Horjus was also recognised and awarded a Special Commendation for Achievement in Sport. A further five students from Kangaroo Island Community Education were nominated for the award, and Mayor Peter Clements highlighted their individual contributions to the community in the ceremony at Reeves Point, attended by an audience of approximately 200.

Mayor Peter Clements said it was not easy judging the awards this year ‘We were completely knocked out by the amazing qualities of the nominees. The contribution each has made – and continues to make – to our community, and the extent to which they strive to excel. These seven nominees have clearly demonstrated through their commitment, their passion, their ability and their grace, that they are made for future leadership. We can be proud of all of them and take comfort in knowing that their hands will help build and shape our society.‘
