
Under the Local Government Act 1999 and the Development Regulations 2008, Kangaroo Island Council is required to keep a number of registers. In most cases, the register is available for inspection by the public at Kangaroo Island Council, Dauncey Street, Kingscote. Some registers are also available online.
Under section 13 od Schedule 1B of the Local Government Act 1999, Council must keep a register of building upgrade agreements.
Kangaroo Island Council does not have any building upgrade agreements.
Under section 252 of the Local Government Act 1999, Council must keep a register of all by-laws made or adopted by the Council.
Under section 81 of the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999, Council must prepare a campaign donations return register with incorporates the campaign donations return for each candidate for election.

Under section 207 of the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999, Council must keep a register of all community land in its area. A snapshot of this register from 2016 is available within the Lands Management Plan.

Under section 1(3) of Schedule 2A of the Local Government (General) Regulations 2013, the Council must maintain a register of gifts and benefits received by employees of Council and must ensure that the details of each gift and benefit provided are included.

Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1999 requires that Elected Members declare any interest and provide full and accurate details of the relevant interest to the Council prior to consideration of that item on the Agenda. Each Member of a Council has a duty to vote at all meetings unless excepted by legislation.

Under section 231 of the Local Government Act 1999, Council is required to keep a register of public roads in its area.
